Waliyha Azad, sister of Zayn Malik, has shared an emotional message to social media, telling people to “give respect to Zayn, you don’t know what he’s going through”
Zayn Malik’s sister, Waliyha, has shared a heartfelt post about her brother after he rescheduled several tour dates. The 26 year old urged people to be kind following Zayn’s recent loss of his former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, who tragically passed away on October 16 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina.
Sharing a black and white photo of Liam with his arm around Zayn, Waliyha wrote: “Give respect to Zayn, you don’t know what he’s going through. Today is a month since his brother has been gone.”
This comes after Zayn announced he needed to reschedule dates due to “unforeseen circumstances” in an Instagram post. The 31 year old musician was set to start his tour in Edinburgh, Scotland on November 20 and 21, but has since rescheduled the shows for December.
Zayn wrote to his 54 million followers: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Zayn ‘Stairway To The Sky’ Edinburgh show originally scheduled for the 20th of November has been rescheduled for 8th of December. And the Edinburgh show for the 21st of November has been rescheduled to the 9th of December.
In the wake of a profound personal tragedy, Zayn has decided to postpone his US tour. The delay comes after the sudden death of his dear friend and former bandmate, which led to the arrest of three suspects connected to the case, reports the Mirror.
Zayn had previously planned to launch the US leg of his tour starting October 23 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, concluding on November 3 in New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Furthermore, his UK performances were supposed to debut at Edinburgh’s O2 Academy on November 20 and wrap up on December 4 at the O2 Apollo in Manchester.
Taking to Instagram to inform his fans of the postponement, Zayn explained: “Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I’ve made the decision to postpone the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour. The dates are being rescheduled for January and I’ll post them as soon as it’s all set in the next few days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for your understanding.”
Currently, arrangements for Liam’s funeral are pending, as his family endured a heart-wrenching three-week delay before his body could be repatriated to the UK. His father Geoff made an immediate trip to Argentina at the news of his son’s demise and stayed there until he could return on the same flight as his son’s remains.
