Selena Gomez and her fiancé, Benny Blanco, have decided to press pause on wedding plans to focus on their upcoming album, I Said I Love You First, which is set for release on March 21.
A Shift in Priorities
According to E! News, during a recent interview, Blanco mentioned that Gomez is always coming up with fresh wedding ideas—so much so that “every day she’s planned a new wedding in her head.” Despite the creative buzz surrounding their nuptial plans, the couple has agreed to set those ideas aside for now.
Focusing on Their Musical Collaboration
Instead of rushing into wedding arrangements, Gomez and Blanco are dedicating their time to their music collaboration. Gomez described this period as “such a special time” where they can pour their hearts into the album and express their shared feelings through their work. “I genuinely feel like this is a unique moment to translate what we feel and bring it to the world,” she explained.
Blanco, 37, added that the couple is still relishing the excitement of their engagement, emphasizing a “take it one day at a time” approach. “We’re still not over this moment,” he said, suggesting that they’re in no hurry to move onto the next milestone.
A Unique Engagement and an Intimate Recording Experience
Their engagement, which was announced in December, followed a memorable proposal during a romantic Taco Bell picnic. The pair has been working on the album together in their home studio—a setting Gomez has described as “the most intimate” recording experience she’s ever had.
A Personal Project
I Said I Love You First is set to be a deeply personal project that blends both of their stories and experiences. Gomez noted, “This whole project embodies his stories combined with my stories. They have meanings that are really just personal to both of us.”
With wedding plans on hold, the couple is channeling all their energy into creating music that reflects their journey together.
