Texas Man Charged with Capital Murder After Girlfriend Found Dead in Apartment
A Texas man is behind bars for capital murder, following a chilling confession to a friend that he “blacked out and thinks something bad happened” to his girlfriend.
Dylan McLean Jones, of Fort Worth, was arrested and charged with capital murder and evading arrest after police discovered the body of his girlfriend, Ariel Levy, inside their shared apartment. The gruesome discovery set off a high-speed police chase that ended with Jones’ arrest.
A Disturbing Confession and a Desperate Escape
The investigation began around 3:15 p.m. on Monday, when Fort Worth police responded to a welfare check at the couple’s apartment. Officers were unable to make contact with anyone inside.
Hours later, at 6 p.m., police received another call—this time from a person claiming Jones had shown up at their home in distress. The caller reported that Jones was crying, saying he “killed his girlfriend” and had what appeared to be dried blood under his fingernails.
Before police arrived at the scene, Jones had already left—but officers soon spotted him driving Levy’s SUV and attempted to pull him over. Instead of stopping, Jones fled, leading police on a dramatic 40-minute chase, reaching speeds of 90 MPH while weaving through traffic, running red lights, and even driving on the wrong side of the road.
More than 20 police cruisers joined the pursuit, eventually using spike strips to disable his vehicle. Even after coming to a stop, Jones had to be tasered before officers could take him into custody. A handgun was reportedly found in his possession at the time of his arrest.
A Tragic Discovery
While the chase unfolded, other officers returned to the couple’s apartment, where they found Ariel Levy’s body in the bedroom. She had suffered a gunshot wound, and shell casings near her body allegedly matched the firearm Jones had on him when he was arrested.
Jones was booked into Fort Worth jail on charges of capital murder and evading arrest.
Remembering Ariel Levy
Levy’s family confirmed to FOX 4 that the couple had been living together at the time of her death. In a heartbreaking statement, they described her as:
“A wonderful person who left a positive impact on everyone she came across. She was funny, smart, talented, and a wonderful mom. We, her family and friends, will miss her—especially her kids.”
As the investigation continues, Jones remains in custody, facing the most severe charges possible under Texas law.
