Lisa Ray recently took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to call out Air India for refusing to honor a medical waiver for her ailing father. The actor explained that she had to cancel her scheduled travel due to her father’s deteriorating health—he is 92 years old—and that she had submitted all the required documentation from his doctor. Yet, despite her efforts, the waiver was denied.
In her post, Lisa wrote:
“Here we go again @airindia. My father is 92, unwell and I have to cancel travel due to his ailing condition. Submitted doctor’s letter and the waiver was denied? How is that possible? Where is the empathy from an airline that is claiming to care about passengers???”
Following a response from Air India’s X account, Lisa shared a screenshot from the booking website showing that there was no option for a medical waiver, along with details that her father had been hospitalized.
About Lisa Ray
Lisa Ray began her career as a model in the early 1990s and made her acting debut with the film Hanste Khelte in 1994. Over the years, she has been part of several notable films including Kasoor, Water, and I Can’t Think Straight. In 2009, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare form of bone marrow cancer, and experienced a relapse three years into her recovery—a journey she detailed in her memoir, Close To The Bone, released in 2019.
She married businessman Jason Dehni in 2012, and the couple welcomed twin daughters, Soleil Ray-Dehni and Sufi Ray-Dehni, in September 2018. Lisa was most recently seen in the second season of Four More Shots Please!, available for streaming on Prime Video.
Lisa’s experience with Air India highlights her ongoing frustration with airline policies, especially when it comes to addressing the needs of passengers facing medical emergencies.
