Liam Payne – who tragically died after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina – met with the Royal Family on a number of occasions, but one meeting left him in awe
Liam Payne, the late One Direction star who tragically fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 16, had several memorable encounters with the Royal family during his successful music career.
He and his bandmates had the privilege of meeting Prince Harry, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and even the late Queen. One particular encounter left him utterly astounded. His first brush with royalty was at the Royal Variety Show in 2014, where he and his bandmates were introduced to Prince William and a pregnant Kate, expecting Princess Charlotte at the time. Harry Styles, Liam’s bandmate, congratulated the couple on their growing family. The following year, on the day their album “Made in the AM” was released, the entire band met Prince Harry.
Liam appeared confident and relaxed as he watched Prince Harry chat and joke with Harry Styles about the length of his hair.
Liam Payne, two years later, had the opportunity to meet the late beloved Queen Elizabeth. The encounter, which left him visibly awestruck, took place at the 2017 Queen’s Young Leaders reception held at Buckingham Palace, The Mirror reported.
This event was a platform for young leaders who have made significant contributions to their communities to share their experiences. Prince Harry was also present, but this time, Liam attended solo, without his bandmates.
His social media post following the event clearly indicated that the day and the late Queen had a profound impact on him. “An absolute honour to meet the Queen today on such a fantastic occasion. Privileged to share the room with such inspirational @queensyoungleaders, hear their stories and how they are helping to rebuild and preserve a sometimes broken world,” Liam shared in his post.
