Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan are to attend Liam Payne’s funeral.
Liam will be laid to rest this week in his hometown in England after his body was transferred from Argentina to the United Kingdom. The singer was best known for being one of five members of One Direction alongside Harry, Zayn, Louis, and Niall. The funeral is set to be private and limited to those in his personal life.
Liam, 31, died on Oct. 16 after falling from a third story balcony from his hotel in Buenos Aires. The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office issued a press release on Nov. 7 stating that Liam’s toxicological results were shared with his family and revealed traces of “alcohol, cocaine, and prescription antidepressants.”
A source told The Sun: “Liam’s funeral is taking place tomorrow afternoon in the Home Counties. His family have gone to great lengths to put together the perfect service and give him the send off he deserves. Liam may have been a global superstar but to Geoff and Karen he will always be their little boy. It is going to be an incredibly difficult day.”
The global boyband was formed on the TV show The X-Factor in 2010 by Nicole Scherzinger and later managed by Simon Cowell. Zayn departed from the group in 2015 with the group entering an indefinite “hiatus” a year later. Niall, Louis, Liam, and Harry continued to release music as One Direction, including their final album, Made in the A.M.. The group then went their separate ways in 2016 as they pursued solo ventures. Liam’s first solo track was Strip That Down.
When the news broke of Liam’s death, One Direction came together to put out a statement. They wrote on Instagram: “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.”
One person that will not be attending is Liam’s manager Rogelio “Roger” Nores. He is currently being investigated for his potential alleged involvement in the singer’s death continues.
