The cause of death for Liam Payne has been confirmed. The late celebrity met a tragic end after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires.
Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and ambulances, were dispatched to the scene following the incident. Reports suggest that prior to his fall, police received calls about a man behaving aggressively at the hotel, possibly under the influence of substances.
An autopsy report indicated that his injuries were consistent with a high fall, specifically from the third floor of the Casa Sur hotel on Godoy Cruz Street. On October 16, the Sistema de Atencio Medica de Emergencia released a statement: “British musician Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo.”

They added, “In the afternoon, police personnel from Precinct 14B were directed to the hotel by a 911 call reporting an aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”
In addition, the Security Minister of Buenos Aires informed the Associated Press that Liam had “jumped from the balcony of his hotel room,” resulting in “extremely serious injuries,” reports the Mirror.
The Argentina National Prosecutor’s office has released a statement regarding the tragic death of Liam Payne, stating that his demise was due to “polytrauma and internal and external bleeding.”
They described the cause of death as “doubtful/undetermined,” indicating a lack of definitive information. Following his untimely passing, they confirmed that “a series of substances were seized from the musician’s room, which would prove a previous situation of alcohol and drugs consumption.”
The prosecutor’s office reiterated that Payne succumbed to “multiple traumatic injuries” and “internal bleeding” resulting from a fall.
His body bore 25 injuries “compatible with those produced by a fall from height,” including brain and skull injuries deemed “sufficiently suitable to cause death.” The internal and external hemorrhages in his skull, chest, abdomen, and limbs all played a part in his death.
It is believed that Liam may have fallen into a state of semi or total unconsciousness prior to his fall. Further investigations were conducted to determine if drugs or alcohol were present in Liam’s system at the time of his death.
Reports suggest that he had pink cocaine, a drug cocktail that includes methamphetamine, MDMA, ketamine and more but not cocaine, in his system. It’s also claimed that Liam had cocaine, crack, and benzodiazepine in his system when he died.
Following the tragic passing of Liam, a raid was conducted by Buenos Aires police at his hotel. A government official disclosed to The Associated Press late last month that the Special Investigations Division had been dispatched to Casa Sur Hotel to execute the raid ordered by the prosecutor’s office handling the case.
During this operation, computer hard drives were confiscated. Nearly a month after his untimely death, Liam’s body was flown back to the UK on Thursday morning.
His father, Geoff, and former security guard, Paul Higgins, accompanied him on his final journey. They travelled via a British Airways flight from Buenos Aires, with a brief layover in Rio de Janeiro before touching down at London’s Heathrow earlier today.
While funeral arrangements have not yet been made public, it is expected that the family will soon announce how fans can pay tribute to Liam’s life, legacy, and illustrious career as a member of the world’s most popular boyband.
