Lauren Sanchez is gearing up to inspire the world as she and her all-female crew prepare to journey to the edge of space. In a behind-the-scenes clip, the former entertainment reporter shared her first meeting with an extraordinary lineup: pop star Katy Perry, celebrated journalist Gayle King, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights advocate Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn. This historic team will be the first all-female crew to board a Blue Origin rocket this spring.
During a recent Zoom call, Lauren officially dubbed the group her “crew,” emphasizing that each member is a natural storyteller ready to share their unique experiences from space. “They’re all storytellers who can inspire the next generation with the profound impact of their journey back on Earth,” she explained. Even Gayle King admitted she was feeling a bit nervous about the upcoming launch, adding a human touch to the excitement.
Lauren expressed her belief that the trip will leave everyone with a renewed, profound love for our planet—a sentiment she hopes will spark inspiration among future trailblazers. At one point, as the call ended, Lauren couldn’t hide her excitement, banging on the table and declaring how thrilled she was to embark on this adventure with her remarkable crew.
The mission, part of the New Shepard program, will carry passengers 62 miles above Earth, reaching the Kármán line—the boundary where our atmosphere meets space. With the crew’s enthusiasm and diverse backgrounds, this journey promises not only to push the limits of space travel but also to share unforgettable stories that can change lives back on Earth.
