Chappell Roan is going viral for calling her former teacher out onstage at the Austin City Limits Music Festival over the weekend.
While introducing her song, “My Kink is Karma,” the 26-year-old singer went in on her theater teacher in an explicit intro, according to the Daily Mail.
“I usually dedicate this song to my ex, but I dedicate this song to my f—ing theater teacher…who kicked me out, b–ch! I’m here!”
Fans took to social media to defend Roan’s words, with some sharing their own experience with their theater teachers.
“As someone who got bullied by his high school theater teacher, Chappell Roan calling out her theater teacher at ACL was healing for the soul,” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Chappell Roan’s teacher who kicked her out of theater club is never going to know peace ever again… and rightfully so!!” another person wrote.
Another social media user tweeted: “Chappell Roan calling out her theater teacher for kicking her out of their theater troop at ACL is so fvcking funny dude if you’re a theater kid you get it.”
Singer and rapper Tyler, the Creator even applauded Roan for her statement at the festival.
“Shoutout Chappell man. I love the dramatic, it’s like theater kid sh-t, like I loved that sh-t. That sh-t tight,” he wrote on X.
Roan’s latest performance comes after she recently canceled her tour for health reasons, and threatened to quit after struggling with fame and harassment.
In a TikTok video, Roan spoke out against aggressive fans for expecting full access to her life.
“I don’t care that abuse and harassment, stalking, whatever, is a normal thing to do to people who are famous or a little famous, whatever. I don’t care that it’s normal,” Roan said in her TikTok video from August.
“I don’t want whatever the f – – k you think you’re supposed to be entitled to whenever you see a celebrity,” she explained. “I don’t give a f – – k if you think it’s selfish of me to say no for a photo or for your time or for a hug –– that’s not normal, that’s weird!”
The young singer recently pulled out of the All Things Go Festival in New York, saying that “things have gotten overwhelming” for her, and she had to put her mental health first.
“I feel pressure to prioritize a lot of things right now and I need a few days to prioritize my health. I want to be present when I perform and give the best shows possible. Thank you for understanding. Be back soon xox,” her message concluded.
Additionally, she snapped at a photographer on the 2024 MTV VMAs red carpet, telling them to “shut the f–k up.” She won the Best New Artist award later that night.
